How much have you seen when you do not take into account the pockets of otherkin communities? We have a limited overview of society at large, if any at all, so we base our opinions on the networks where we socialize. And yes, there is plenty of romanticizing in the otherkin community. I would tend to agree with Phosphoros in saying that in the Western world there is more demonizing than romancizing, although of course like a lot of larger mammals the wolf is one of the popular animals in the [limited] circles who care about conservation (and which are not representative of society at large).
